AAC stands for Augmentative and Alternative Communication. It refers to methods and tools used to help people who have difficulty with verbal communication. This can include a wide range of strategies, from simple picture boards and symbol systems to advanced electronic devices that generate speech.
AAC is designed to support spoken communication, allowing individuals to express their needs, thoughts, and ideas more effectively. It’s used by people with various conditions, including cerebral palsy, autism, and neurological disorders.
